Gigapan is a new photographic technique. It is a huge mosaic of photos placed one on top of the other, thus forming a complete image. The image of the reredos of Torreciudad is made up of two-hundred-twenty-eight (228) high-resolution photos. If this image were printed in high quality, the printed paper’s size would approximately be equal to that of a tennis court. While the reredos was being photographed using this new technique, the Shrine’s normal interior lighting was enhanced with additional 12,000 watts of lights. This project was carried out by Madrid-based foundation “Beta Films”.
