Torreciudad is an accessible sanctuary: people with disabilities will find facilities that allow them to have a satisfactory visit. In the case of organized groups, guides follow a disability care protocol which includes various points of special interest. For example, during an explanation, blind people can feel the different textures of the construction materials: brick, stone, ironwork, tiles…

Wheelchair access

There are toilets on the lower floor of the Tourist Office that are accessed by an elevator in which a wheelchair can comfortably fit . There are ramps on the sides of the esplanade and on the route from the main church to the ground floor. Access to the main church body and the chapel of the Holy Sacrament is via double doors. The route to the Medallion of the Virgin, to the chapels of the ground floor and to the gallery of images of the Virgin also allow a comfortable access. A confessional has been adapted to allow a penitent to enter directly in a wheelchair.

Hearing impairment

At the Tourist Office we have a magnetic auditory loop on the counter to reduce the influence of ambient sound and gain clarity and understanding during conversations. The audiovisual project on Torreciudad is also subtitled in Spanish. A confessional has been adapted to allow use of a microphone and headphones with the priest hearing confession.

Visual disability

On the ground floor there is a model of the altarpiece made of clay by the sculptor himself that allows blind people to feel in detail all its scenes and figures and ornamentation. In the same area is the gallery of images of the Virgin, which can be examined by touch to appreciate the great variety of styles, materials, finishes and expressions.
